Brief Description:
If you have a digital camera but you cannot get past the Auto mode, then this course is for you. It is suitable for beginners and those who wish to develop their skills further.

This practical 5 week course will get you past Auto mode snapping and teach you the basics of digital photography. You will create photographs to fit your purpose and to fulfill your ideas. There will also be some basic image manipulation using computer software. You need to have some basic understanding of image editing as we will be uploading images onto computers.

You will explore:
• the basic relationship between time and light
• shutter speeds
• aperture and ISO settings

Course Aims:
• Understand the basics of digital photography
• Become familiar with the settings and menus of a digital camera
• Be able to perform basic image manipulation using computer software
• Gain confidence to produce own photographic work

Extra Costs:
None.
If you are intending to purchase a new camera, it is advisable not to make any purchase until the course is confirmed as running.
What you need to bring to the first session:
Digital Camera - DSLR or Bridge Camera with manual controls – with memory card.
Notebook
Pen
Memory Stick (optional – if you want a copy of the images, although all images can be sent via email.)

Brief Description:
During this practical and fun course, we will focus on various photography subjects, from landscapes to flowers, to people and pets. You will gradually grow more confident in using your camera and will learn the skills needed to take the perfect photograph. The course is aimed at learners who want to make the most of their digital camera without getting into complex technical theory and who want to enjoy photography in everyday situations like family gatherings, walks, holidays etc.
No prior knowledge is needed. Weather permitting, there may be an opportunity for an outdoor landscape photography session

An element of computer editing is included. You need to be able to upload images online / have an email account.

Course Aims:
• Understand the features of your digital camera, where to find them and how to use them
• Learn how to take good portraits and group shots (available light and where to stand)
• Learn how to take a good close up (zoom)
• Understand the elements that go together to make a good landscape photograph
• Learn how to control the built in flash in your camera and when to use it
