AROMATHERAPHY – AN INTRODUCTION

Brief Description:

The art of aromatherapy has been around for centuries, plants and flowers can have the key to your peace of mind. Why not come and try something new, to enhance the soul and revitalise, whilst learning something new. A holistic gentle therapy, using plant oils for relaxation and stress reduction.

Course Aims:

• Understand basic knowledge of historical context of essential oils
• Explain how essential oils are used safely and effectively
• Prepare simple aromatherapy products for home and personal use
• Demonstrate practical massage skills for relaxation and mindfulness

Extra Costs:

There will be a materials fee of £1.50 for the whole course. To be paid direct to the tutor on the first evening.

INDIAN BIRYANI & RICE (VEGETARIAN)

Tuesday 12 November for 1 week

Learners are required to bring their own ingredients.

Brief Description:

This course is aimed at anybody who wants to try their hand at making delicious Indian food from scratch. Learners will acquire the skills and knowledge to make:

• biryani – a very popular one pot dish, full of fantastic flavours, with layers of basmati rice and vegetables which is oven baked.
• raita - a delicious and refreshing cucumber and onion yoghurt dip.

Suitable for all levels, no cooking experience required.

Course Aims:

• Learn how to make a vegetable biryani and raita from scratch
• Develop culinary skills and knowledge
• Build confidence in the kitchen

Extra Costs:

Learners are required to bring their own ingredients. Most ingredients will be available from local supermarkets. Tutor is also willing to bring in certain spices / flours and charge learners per teaspoon / cup used. Advance notice required.

INDIAN PAKORAS WITH DIP

Brief Description:

This course is aimed at anybody who wants to try their hand at making delicious Indian breads from scratch. Learners will acquire the skills and knowledge to make:

• Indian pakoras – an Indian snack / finger food made with vegetables, dipped in a chick pea flour batter and deep fried.
• Tomato dip – made with fresh tomatos, garlic, green chilies and a cumin/coriander mixture called dhana jiru.

Suitable for all levels, no cooking experience required.

Course Aims:

• Learn how to cook Indian pakoras and a dip from scratch
• Develop culinary skills and knowledge
• Build confidence in the kitchen

Brief Description:

This course is aimed at anybodywho wants to try their hand at making delicious Indian food from scratch. Learners will acquire the skills and knowledge to make:

• Tadka dall – a lentil (dall) and tomato dish full of fantastic flavours finished with a tadka (hot spiced tempering with oil and spices).
• Saffron rice – a restaurant style Indian rice dish flavoured with cardamom pods and saffron (goes well with most curries)

You will learn how combining spices and herbs can produce great tasting food using simple everyday ingredients.

Suitable for all levels, no cooking experience required.

• Learn how to make a tadka dall and saffron rice
• Learn how to use spices and how to store them
• Develop culinary skills and knowledge
• Build confidence in the kitchen
